Prior Experience

Prior to joining DLA Piper, Peter managed Telemat Ltd., a business consulting firm that he founded in 1982. Peter has gained substantial project management and financial services consulting experience operating from this platform. From 1988 to 1992, Peter served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Illinois Sports Facilities Authority, a joint venture of the City of Chicago and State of Illinois created to develop a new Comiskey Park for the Chicago White Sox. Peter was responsible for all aspects of planning and executing the development of this $250 million project. The facility was completed on time and several million dollars under budget.

Additionally, Peter was owner and managing general partner of the National Basketball Association's Denver Nuggets. He planned, organized and executed the acquisition of the Nuggets in 1989. After overseeing the complete reorganization of the team, on and off the court, Peter sold his interest in the franchise in August 1992.

Peter also served as a consultant to the Atlanta Fulton County Recreation Authority and the Atlanta Committee to Organize the Olympic Games in preparation for the 1996 Summer Games. He was involved in defining the conceptual framework for the 85,000 seat Olympic Stadium that has been converted to a 45,000 seat baseball stadium for the Atlanta Braves; developing a $210 million budget for the stadium's construction; and negotiating a lease agreement that induced the Braves to occupy the renovated facility.  As a Senior Partner at DLA Piper, he led a team that advised the London Olympic Committee in its preparation for the 2012 Summer Games.

In 2008, he was one of the six recipients of the 2008 Harvard Alumni Association Award, honoring outstanding service to the university through alumni activities. Among the accolades he has received in his career, Crain's Chicago Business has named him to its annual list of "Who's Who in Chicago Business."

On July 15, 1989 he was named "Athlete of the Week" by ABC Wide World of Sports.
