Dr. Guillermo Cabanellas is a senior partner in the firm's Corporate and Intellectual Property groups. Guillermo was a co-founder of DLA Piper Argentina's predecessor firm, CEK.

In the past three decades, Guillermo has held several preeminent positions with respect to major project developments, restructurings and financing transactions in Argentina, both in his role as private practitioner and as adviser to the federal government. He was recently appointed by the United Nations to advise the Republic of Cuba in connection with the drafting of new legislation in the country − a role he similarly performed in 1982 when he served as advisor to the Republic of China regarding legislative drafting. He served as General Director of Economic Legislation at the Argentine Ministry of Finance and as Director at the Argentine Foreign Trade Commission.
