Brittany specialises in competition and regulatory matters, with experience in Australia and New Zealand.

Advising on the full range of competition and regulatory matters, Brittany is experienced in merger control, enforcement and investigations, exclusive dealing and anti-competitive agreements, as well as the Australian Consumer Law and other regulatory and public law issues.

Brittany has particular expertise in the energy sector, frequently advising large electricity and gas companies in respect of their regulatory obligations, and renewable energy companies in respect of their entry and expansion in Australia.

EXPERIENCE

  • Assisting ASX-listed Ansarada Group Limited in obtaining ACCC clearance in respect of its proposed acquisition by Datasite, LLC to the value of AUD236.3 million.
  • Advising clients on an ongoing basis on compliance with Part IV of the Competition and Consumer Act, including advice on price fixing and other anti-competitive arrangements.
  • Acting for a leading New Zealand gas pipeline company in respect of proceedings brought it against it by the New Zealand Commerce Commission for its completion of an acquisition in contravention of the Commerce Act (2019).*
  • Advising various electricity and gas network service providers on reset processes before the Australian Energy Regulator under the National Electricity Law and National Electricity Rules, and National Gas Law and National Gas Rules.
  • Advising regulated energy companies in respect of their obligations under national and jurisdictional energy regulations.
  • Acting for various electricity distribution companies in respect of New Zealand Commerce Commission investigations into alleged contravention of their regulated price-quality path.*

Prior to joining DLA Piper, Brittany was the Associate Director (Policy & Legal Counsel) at New Zealand Bankers' Association and worked as a solicitor at a large New Zealand Law Firm.
