About

Justin Van Ligten is a litigator who focuses his practice on assisting clients with complex litigation matters in both federal and state court.  Prior to joining DLA Piper, Justin served as a federal law clerk to United States District Court Judges in the Central District of California and the Southern District of California.  At the trial court level, Justin’s experience includes researching, analyzing, and drafting memoranda and opinions on a wide variety of legal topics such as copyright law, arbitration, data privacy, trademark law, civil rights, federal criminal law, and employment law.  Justin also has experience in preparing for appellate oral argument at the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.  

As a law student, Justin co-authored an opening brief addressing complex constitutional issues in the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
