Sophia Prümen is a German-qualified lawyer and an associate in EU Competition and Antitrust Law practice, with a particular focus on merger control, state aid and foreign direct investment. She has experience in both EU and German competition and antitrust law and advises clients on complex, multi-jurisdictional transactions and regulatory proceedings. 

Sophia has experience across a broad range of sectors, including media, energy, transport, logistics, food, consumer goods and regularly works in cross-border teams.

  • Advising a global company on a Phase II merger investigation before the European Commission.
  • Advising clients on EU and German antitrust law, including cartel matters, horizontal cooperation, vertical restraints and abuse of a dominant position.

Prior Experience

Prior to joining DLA Piper in Brussels, Sophia completed her legal clerkship, during which she gained experience at the Directorate-General for Competition of the European Commission and at a leading international law firm in Germany.
