DLA Piper strengthens German Finance, Projects and Restructuring practice with partner appointment

DLA Piper will strengthen its Finance, Projects and Restructuring practice group with the appointment of Michaela Sopp as a new partner in the Munich and Frankfurt offices, effective 1 March 2023. She joins from Simmons & Simmons, where she was a partner in the Banking practice. Before that she has also been a partner in another international law firm for over 14 years.

Michaela has more than 20 years experience advising on a wide range of debt transactions including cross-border, asset-based finance, syndicated and bilateral lending, corporate and acquisition finance, green loans with a focus on real estate finance as well as loan portfolio transfers and restructurings. She has a strong track record on advising financial institutions, but also on the sponsor and borrower side work as well as on advising debt funds and insurance companies on direct lending, senior/ mezzanine structures, preferred equity, loan on loan deals as well as restructuring/special situations. She further advises on ESG-linked products.
