DLA Piper welcomes Darren Patz as a partner in the Regulatory and Government Affairs practice

DLA Piper is pleased to welcome Miami-based partner Darren Patz to the firm’s Regulatory and Government Affairs practice as a member of the Federal Law and Policy subgroup.

Patz has more than 20 years of experience building federal and state government affairs programs focused on healthcare services, laws impacting healthcare companies and improving Medicare/Medicaid reimbursements. His practice focuses on advising private equity portfolio companies in the healthcare sector, public healthcare companies, large provider groups, and health systems.

As Senior Vice President and Chief Government Affairs Officer for one of the region’s largest publicly traded healthcare companies, Patz led advocacy, lobbying and strategic initiatives on various state and federal issues. Patz regularly worked with members of Congress, executive branch employee and state legislators around the country on tax, healthcare and corporate laws, appropriations, state budgetary increases and other key projects.

His work included managing the implementation of new state and federal laws, such as the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act of 2020, as well as the Affordable Care Act; providing strategic insights and advice to executives, board members, physicians and other employees on advocacy and public policy initiatives; and implementing compliance programs for various healthcare laws.

“Darren’s extensive government affairs and healthcare experience will synergize with our private equity, healthcare and life sciences practices and enable us to better serve our core clients’ needs. We also look forward to forging new client relationships with Darren and seeing his practice grow with our national and international platform,” said Loren Brown, DLA Piper’s US vice chair.

“Darren is well known in the industry for his extensive knowledge and experience in healthcare regulation and public affairs. We look forward to introducing him to our healthcare and life sciences clients, to provide them with a full suite of capabilities and help grow their business,” said Joshua Kaye, managing partner of the firm’s Miami office.
