Join us for the opening conference of the DLA Piper Milan Investment Arbitration Pre-Moot on Friday, 26 May 2023 at 9am (CET), in person, at our offices in Milan. Through leading arbitration specialists, the conference will touch upon some of the most challenging issues of the case study of the 15th Frankfurt Investment Arbitration Moot Competition (FIAMC). 

A networking rooftop cocktail reception will be hosted at the DLA Piper Milan’s terrace on Friday evening after the rounds of hearings: it will be opened to all mooties, arbitrators, speakers and participants to the conference who wish to join.

Maria Chiara Malaguti

Full Professor of International law, Università Cattolica Sacro Cuore (Key note Speaker)

Maria Chiara Malaguti is Full Professor of International law at Università Cattolica Sacro Cuore (Milan/Rome, Italy). She was appointed President of UNIDROIT since 1 September 2020. She is also legal advisor to the Italian Ministry for Foreign Affairs on trade matters and to the World Bank on modernization of payment systems, financial markets, and governance.

Gabriele Ruscalla

Avocat au Barreau de Paris, Liedekerke
Gabriele Ruscalla is a member of Liedekerke’s International Arbitration and Dispute Resolution Practice. He has assisted on matters involving corporate clients, States and State-owned entities in both international commercial and investment arbitrations, conducted under the major arbitration rules, with particular focus on construction, energy, oil & gas, distribution, general commercial matters and investment protection.

Crina Baltag

Associate Professor in International Arbitration, Stockholm University

Dr Crina Baltag is Associate Professor in International Arbitration at Stockholm University and qualified attorney-at-law, with over twenty years of extensive practice in various aspects on international dispute resolution, private and public international law. Crina is the academic director of the LL.M. in International Commercial Arbitration Law at Stockholm University and member of the Board of the SCC Arbitration Institute.

Marina Matousekova

International Arbitration Lawyer - Partner at TALMA Dispute Resolution

Marina Matousekova is a partner at Talma Dispute Resolution. . Marina specializes in arbitration, both as counsel and arbitrator, and assists clients in disputes related notably to energy, construction, investment, joint ventures and complex commercial disputes, including IP disputes. Marina is one of the four Co-Chairs of the Italian Forum for Arbitration and ADR (ArbIt) for the biennial 2022-2023.

Irene Petrelli

Partner, Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle LLP

Irene Petrelli is a member of Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle LLP International Arbitration group and leads the Italian arbitration team. Her practice focuses on investment treaty arbitration, international commercial arbitration, and public international law disputes. Ms. Petrelli has represented sovereign States and State-owned entities in connection with international arbitrations under the leading institutional and ad hoc arbitration rules.

Lorena Atzeri

Lecturer in “Roman Law”, Law Faculty of the “Università degli Studi” of Milan

Lorena Atzeri is a Lecturer in “Roman Law” at the Law Faculty of the “Università degli Studi” of Milan. She has visited numerous universities for research (e.g. Freiburg im Breisgau, Frankfurt am Main, Oxford, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen) and she has given various lecturers and seminars in Italy and abroad. Lorena is also author of numerous publications in her area of expertise and she is the referee for national and international Reviews and Printers (Oxford University Press).
