Tyson has a business law practice focussed on advising video game, media, and ‎information technology businesses and is a member of the Firm’s Media, Sports, & Entertainment Group. From one-person indie shops to AAA studios, Tyson’s practice also includes assisting emerging and growth-stage companies in a variety of industry sectors.‎

Tyson leverages his expertise to assist clients with drafting effective licensing and master service ‎agreements; negotiating publishing and distribution deals; and advising on consumer protection, marketing, and ‎privacy matters. Tyson also provides strategic and practical advice on technology sales and procurement matters.‎ Tyson is recognized by Best Lawyers in Canada in the area of Information Technology Law. 

In his practice, Tyson works alongside companies from across Canada, the United States, and abroad who ‎are ‎creators, developers, integrators, innovators, distributors, and service providers. As a former television ‎executive, ‎Tyson ‎knows what it’s like to be on the other side of the lawyer-client relationship and actively ‎works to not ‎simply flag issues but to provide effective solutions as well. As part of his corporate practice, Tyson advises clients on investing and expanding operations into Canada, in particular, video game studios and technology businesses. 

Tyson received both his Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctor from the University of British Columbia and is based in Vancouver, Canada. Lastly, as an avid curler, Tyson is great with a broom and never hesitates to hurry hard.

Pro Bono

Tyson is a member of the Canadian firm’s Black and Indigenous Business ‎Law Clinic (the “Clinic”), which provides qualifying Black and Indigenous founders with practical and timely corporate and commercial legal advice. In 2022, the Clinic was one of four recipients to receive the Justice Seymour Simon Award recognizing outstanding pro bono work done by a team of lawyers and staff at the firm.
