Brendan Oviedo is a partner in the Energy and Natural Resources and Projects practices, with extensive experience in energy regulation, infrastructure projects and carbon markets. He advises national and international companies on the development, structuring and execution of energy projects, as well as on complex regulatory matters related to electricity, hydrocarbons and renewable energy.

He has actively participated in international negotiations concerning mitigation mechanisms and carbon markets under the Kyoto Protocol and the Paris Agreement, advising the Peruvian government in these processes. Brendan combines significant private practice experience with work in international organizations and sector leadership roles, allowing him to provide strategic advice with a strong regulatory and public policy perspective.

Prior Experience

Prior to joining DLA Piper, Brendan was a partner at leading Peruvian law firms, where he advised on complex energy and infrastructure projects. He also served in the Secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and acted as Peru's negotiator in international discussions on the carbon market.
