Victoria is a Partner in the Aviation Group, having joined DLA Piper from another London-based aviation practice in 2022. She has extensive experience of handling multi-jurisdictional aviation liability claims for all types of aviation sector clients, including airlines, GA, airports, ground handlers and other service providers (e.g. MROs, ATC).

In addition to her liability work, Victoria has a particular interest in aviation-related (re)insurance coverage issues.

Victoria also has considerable experience of advising Interested Persons during Coronial Inquests.

In a regulatory context, Victoria has experience in advising clients in relation to CAA prosecutions for regulatory offences.

  • Advising insurers in relation to multi-billion dollar claims by aircraft leasing companies arising out of Russia/Ukraine conflict.
  • Advising reinsurers in relation to London arbitration of reinsurance coverage dispute arising out of disappearance of MH370.
  • Advising major helicopter manufacturer and its insurers in relation to arbitration of contractual / product liability claims arising out of a total loss in South Korea.
  • Advising reinsurers in relation to coverage dispute concerning USD60m product liability (engine parts) reinsurance claim.
  • Advising airline and insurers in relation to liability claims arising out of uncontained engine failure on B747-400 aircraft in February 2021.
  • Advising MRO and insurers in relation to £1.2m claim for alleged negligent performance of maintenance services in 2020.
  • Advancing successful subrogated recovery claim against Czech ground handler in relation to damage to A321 aircraft in 2019.
  • Advising insurers in relation to coverage issues arising out of crash of Bell 505 helicopter in Kenya in 2019 killing 4 passengers and the pilot.
  • Advising UK airport in relation to noise complaints.
  • Advising Interested Persons at high-profile Coronial Inquests (Vauxhall helicopter crash (2013), Shoreham Airshow disaster (2015) and Emiliano Sala (2019)).
  • Advising insurers in relation to coverage issues arising out of total loss of airship in November 2017.
  • Advising insurers of ATC in relation to shooting-down of MH17 over Ukraine in 2014.
  • Handling liability claims arising out of total loss of Sudan Airways A310 in 2008.
