DLA Piper supports biggest Corporate Social Responsibility event in Slovakia

DLA Piper has once again supported the biggest Corporate Social Responsibility event in Slovakia that took place on Friday, 11 June. The initiator of this annual event is the Pontis Foundation, which this year again called on companies to spend a day doing charitable work at various locations throughout the country. The event, which celebrates its 15th birthday this year, connects companies with local municipalities and NGOs with the aim to clean, beautify and improve the general conditions of their local communities, since under normal circumstances they often lack funds and human resources.

Employees of international corporations and leading local enterprises, including colleagues from DLA Piper's Bratislava office, took the opportunity to participate in a variety of the more than 320 activities across the country. Overall, nearly 5.600 volunteers in 44 towns and villages helped to support local communities and to improve their environment. This included painting fences, repairing playgrounds in residential areas, planting trees or cleaning nature of litter and other activities. This year, many people also participated virtually. Online activities included open-source software, text editing, language translation, mentoring and other online support.

The team of DLA Piper's Bratislava office with Managing Partner Michaela Stessl helped at the non-governmental organisation Andreas, that provides social aid to children and young adults with autism spectrum disorders (www.andreas.sk). Dressed in matching shirts with the motto of the event “I Have My Heart in the Right Place” the team of 12 volunteers cultivated the organisation’s garden, planted herbs and shrubs, mowed lawn, and improved the veggie garden with a compost pile.

As in previous years, the event was a great success and DLA Piper is proud to have been part of this campaign.
