DLA Piper advises Sonnedix for a new 110 MW solar project

DLA Piper’s US Renewables Team advised Sonnedix, the international renewable energy producer, in the execution of a power purchase agreement for the 110 MW Sonnedix Solar Fountain project with Guzman Energy. The solar power generation site is planned for development and is expected to be operational in early 2025 in El Paso County, CO.

Sonnedix will develop, build, operate and maintain the solar facility as the project sponsor. As an off-taker, Guzman Energy will purchase 100 percent of the power generated by Sonnedix Solar Fountain for its power portfolio, which is used to serve current and future Guzman Energy wholesale customer power loads.

After completion, the solar photovoltaic plant is expected to generate approximately 312,670MWh during its first year of operation. The project is also expected to create about 300 jobs for local workers during the construction and operation phases.

Vanessa Richelle Wilson, US chair of DLA Piper’s Energy and Natural Resources sector, led the deal team (Washington, DC), which also included associate Michael Mapp (Houston).
