Peter is a Corporate Partner based in our Tokyo office.

Peter advises both Japanese and multinational entities on a wide range of complex cross‑border transactions and projects. He has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions, PE/VC investments, joint ventures, reorganisations, foreign investment, and other corporate matters. His work spans a broad range of sectors, including energy, defence, technology, and consumer products.

Peter is recognised in both the Chambers Global Guide and the Legal 500 Asia Pacific Guide, where clients praise him for his “top‑notch negotiation skills and an eye for cost savings and efficiency,” and describe him as “a valuable and knowledgeable adviser who has the experience, market awareness and practical approach clients need.”

  • Advising C2X LTD, a leading developer of green methanol projects, on a USD 100 million combined investment by ENEOS Corporation, Japan’s leading energy company, and C2X’s existing shareholders, A.P. Moller Holding and A.P. Moller - Maersk.
  • Advising a leading renewable energy developer, as corporate counsel, on its joint development of a 684 MW offshore wind project in Niigata Prefecture, Japan.
  • Advising a Japanese video game production studio on the divestment of a Singapore based development studio.
  • Advising a Japanese government-owned Independent Administrative Institution on the divestment of its interests in one of Australia's largest liquefied natural gas hubs.
  • Advising a Japanese government-owned Independent Administrative Institution on its joint investment in one of the world's largest producer of separated rare earths.
  • Advising a Japanese government-owned Independent Administrative Institution on its proposed joint investment in a large-scale commercial graphite anode facility in Abu Dhabi.
  • Advising a Japanese construction machinery manufacturer on the sale of a fleet of the world's first ultra—large full-battery dump trucks.
  • Advising a Chinese renewable energy developer on its proposed acquisition two 7.1 MW biomass projects in Fukushima Prefecture, Japan.
  • Advising Stonepeak on its proposed acquisition of a majority controlling interest in Castrol from BP. (The transaction values Castrol at an enterprise value of approximately USD10.1bn).
