DLA Piper bolsters Middle East service offering through collaboration with Al Lawati Law in Oman

DLA Piper has entered into an agreement with Mehdi Al Lawati Law Office (Al Lawati Law), an Omani law firm led by Managing Partner Mehdi Al Lawati, to collaborate with each other to provide legal services to clients. The parties' agreement will bolster DLA Piper's current service offering in Oman and the wider Middle East region by offering a seamless legal services solution to clients in Oman, where DLA Piper has operated for over 15 years.

Mehdi Al Lawati is a highly skilled corporate and commercial lawyer, who has practiced in Oman for more than 16 years. Mehdi routinely advises clients transacting in Oman and across the Middle East, notably in Capital Market and Securities Law, restructuring & integration, M&A and the establishment of investment funds. He regularly advises Omani listed companies, sovereign owned entities and private entities on their governance and regulatory related issues. He has advised clients across a broad range of sectors including energy, securities, insurance, leasing and financing.

The collaboration with Al Lawati Law will complement DLA Piper’s existing local office in Muscat. DLA Piper is one of the largest international law firms in the Middle East, providing a coordinated offering of business legal services across the region and access to the firm’s worldwide office network.

Commenting on the association, Peter Somekh, Regional Managing Partner, Middle East and Africa said: “Mehdi and his firm are a talented and well-respected team with significant expertise in corporate and commercial matters. Over the years, they have built up a robust presence in the Omani market. Working with Mehdi and his team will allow DLA Piper to build upon those relationships and further enhance its 15-year presence in Oman.”

Mehdi Al Lawati said: “My team and I are delighted to be collaborating with DLA Piper, one of the largest law firms in the Middle East. The firm has developed a significant practice in Oman, and I am confident that collaborating with each other in the region, coupled with DLA Piper’s worldwide presence and expertise, will provide a compelling regional offering. We look forward to a long and successful relationship.”
