Kaila handles acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, financing and development of a wide variety of assets, including multi-state portfolio transactions. She has deep experience with data center, office, medical office, multifamily, hotel, retail, student housing, senior housing and industrial projects. She has led individual transactions with a value exceeding US$1 billion.
Kaila, a key member of DLA Piper’s market-leading data center team, counsels our clients and closes major transactions that include built-to-suit projects, powered shell arrangements and mega campuses. Kaila’s recent experience in this sector includes:
- Representing a clean energy company opposite a major technology hyperscaler on the development and lease of a 3GW campus
- Representing a developer/operator on high-profile, 300MW multi-phase data center campus that will be co-developed with an AI hyperscaler.
Clients appreciate Kaila’s strategic approach to each phase of a data center transaction and her ability to craft pragmatic solutions to complex problems that enable large transactions to close on time.
Kaila also has extensive experience on public-private partnership (P3) transactions, deftly balancing the interests of private stakeholders, developers and public entities. She has also negotiated long-term ground leases with more than a dozen universities across the US.
