Minimum wage increasing in British Columbia

Effective June 1, 2023, the minimum wage in British Columbia increases from $15.65 to $16.75 an hour. This seven percent increase reflects the British Columbia government’s commitment to tie minimum wage increases to the average annual inflation rate.

Minimum wage applies regardless of how employees are paid – hourly, salary, commission or on an incentive basis. With the increase, British Columbia now provides for the second highest minimum wage rate in Canada, trailing ‎only the Yukon.‎
