DLA Piper advises NORD/LB on the financing of Swedish wind farm

DLA Piper has advised NORD/LB, as sole mandated lead arranger and underwriter, on a construction bridge financing and ancillary facilities, for the 277 MW Kölvallen wind farm in Sweden. The project will be acquired by Foresight Energy Infrastructure Partners, Foresight Group’s flagship energy transition fund, and co-owned by Arise AB, while using the latest Siemens Gemesa technology.

NORD/LB is one of the leading German commercial banks. As an institute under public law, it is part of the S-Finance Group and is one of the nationally system-relevant banks in Germany. The 277 MW Kölvallen project is due to be installed in early 2025, and will feature 41 units of the SG 6.6-170 model and one SG 6.6-155.

Natasha Luther-Jones, Global Co-Chair of the Energy and Natural Resources sector at DLA Piper comments: “We are delighted to have advised on this innovative bridge financing, working with our longstanding client NORD/LB. This transaction is another great example of our strength in the Nordics, and in particular our responsiveness, having closed the deal within four weeks of instruction.”

The DLA Piper team, led by UK Partner Natasha Luther Jones, included Swedish Partner Björn Sjöberg, and UK Partner Rubayet Choudhury, with support from Legal Director Robert Cockburn, and Senior Associates Charlotte Eliades and Jacques Camilleri.
