Arbitration Team Coffee Break | 2024 wrap-up!
2025 has already kicked off, so we wanted to sum up all the events DLA Piper's A-Team has participated in or organized in 2024.
We’ve published seven newsletters – read them here. And we’ve organized or spoken at these events:
- On 8 February 2024, Giulia Vallar spoke at the 9th edition of the “Conference on International Arbitration and the UN Convention for the International Sales of Goods” in Guadalajara, Mexico. She took part in the third panel, dealing with “Artificial Intelligence and Internet security in international contracts and arbitration.”
- On 10 and 11 May 2024, our Milan office hosted the fifth edition of the Milan Investment Arbitration Pre-Moot in preparation for the Frankfurt Investment Arbitration Moot Court (FIAMC). Federica Bocci moderated the opening conference “ESG disputes and investment protection: The pursuit of a delicate balance through third-party funding?” And Giulia Vallar gave the closing remarks. Six teams attended the event representing their respective universities, and more than 20 practitioners and scholars took part as arbitrators.
- On 23 May 2024, Federica Bocci discussed the topic of “Recognition and enforcement of awards in Italy and Germany – a side by side comparison” at an event hosted by the Bilateral Italian-German Arbitration Group in Berlin titled: “Arbitration in Germany and Italy – Recent Developments.”
- On 12 June 2024, Federica Bocci spoke at the “Navigating Arbitral Seats Around the World” conference hosted by the Italian Forum for Arbitration and ADR (ArbIt) in Rome. It was a side event for Italian Arbitration Day (IAD), discussing “How to handle arbitrations seated in Italy.”
- On 14 June 2024, our Rome office hosted a side event for Italian Arbitration Day. The event, organized by Arbitral Women, Young Arbitral Women Practice Group and The Pledge, was entitled “Meet Your Female Arbitrator: A breakfast interview.” Stefano Modenesi was one of the moderators.
- On 15 September 2024, Stefano Modenesi was a panelist in a discussion on interim measures in arbitration at the IBA (International Bar Association) 2024 Annual Conference in Mexico City.
- On 18 September, Federica Bocci spoke at a conference hosted by PWC at its Milan office on “La consulenza tecnica nell’arbitrato.”
- On 15 October 2024, our Milan office hosted a conference focusing on “Managing Disputes in the Space Sector” organized by AA40 - The Italian below40 Arbitration Association and the Space Arbitration Association.
- On 7 November 2024, Federica Bocci spoke at the Society of Construction Law Astra International Conference. The panel discussed “Preparing for Success – how counsel, legal, expert and client teams can work seamlessly together for better results in hearings.” The day after, 8 November 2024, our Milan office hosted the same conference for the morning panels.
- On 28 November 2024, Giulia Vallar moderated the second panel of the conference organized by ArbIt Italian Forum for Arbitration and ADR and AA40 – The Italian below 40 Arbitration Association on “AI-Powered Justice: Transforming Arbitration” for the XV edition of the Annual Conference of the Chamber of Arbitration of Milan.
