Alejandro is a Senior Associate in the Real Estate department at DLA Piper's Madrid office.

He has extensive experience in purchase and sale transactions through asset deal and share deal structures. He also advises on complex investment transactions, including joint ventures, financing transactions, and other transactions such as lease agreements, sale and lease backs, management agreements, construction agreements, and delegated development agreements.

Alejandro has advised on transactions in all areas of practice, including residential (built-to-rent), offices (sale and leaseback), industrial, logistics and data centers (asset disposals), accommodation (hotels, tourist apartments, and residences for students and seniors), and retail.

Alejandro advises national and international clients on real estate and urban planning matters, including change of use procedures, legalization procedures, urban planning and disciplinary proceedings, as well as legal and administrative matters relating to urban planning permits and licenses.

EXPERIENCE

  • Advising Capitaland on the sale to Blackstone of a portfolio of six (6) logistics warehouses in Madrid and Catalonia through a combined share deal and asset deal structure. This transaction has enabled the client to enter the Spanish logistics market through a high-impact operation in the sector.
  • Advised Mapletree, a real estate investment and management company, on the sale of a portfolio of ten (10) logistics warehouses in Spain to funds managed by Blackstone. The sale was structured as a share deal with a high impact on the Spanish logistics market, making it one of the largest real estate transactions of the year.
  • Advising GLP/Ares Management on the sale of a logistics warehouse located in the "Los Gavilanes" sector (Getafe). Asset deal structured as a forward purchase with an initial sale agreement subject to conditions precedent and the fulfillment of closing conditions, with the subsequent execution of the public deed of sale.
  • Advising Redevco on the acquisition of a retail park in Ferrol (Galicia) operated by Carrefour, Lidl, Bricomat, Mediamarkt, etc. This included complex due diligence issues in relation to lease agreements and other urban planning matters.
  • Advising Barings on the purchase of two properties in Valencia through a forward purchase agreement for the acquisition of a logistics park of approximately 170,000 m2, which will comprise a logistics park with several operators. This included advising on all contracts involved in the transaction, such as the delegated development contract, the project monitoring contract, the financing contract, and the contracts associated with the sale, with a signing and closing structure.
  • Advising David Lloyd on a sale & lease back transaction in relation to the sale of two first-class sports centers located in Boadilla del Monte and Aravaca (Madrid) and their subsequent lease back to the seller. Also advising this client on various sales in Spain for the future implementation of new sports centers.
  • Advising Hines on the transfer of urban development rights (UAs) in relation to existing properties with remaining buildable area for transfer in favor of other plots of land under the same zoning regulations.
  • Advising Banco Santander on a financing transaction for the development of a hotel in Seville, a hotel in Malaga, and a luxury hotel in Ibiza with leisure and recreational facilities to be operated by Tomorrowland.
  • Advising ING Bank N.V. on financing for Ares and Aedas Homes for the development of three (3) residential projects located in the Community of Madrid and subject to public protection regimes.
