DLA Piper advises CHAR Technologies on European cleantech licensing agreement

DLA Piper Canada advised CHAR Technologies Ltd. (TSXV: YES; FSE: 68K) (“CHAR”) on a technology knowhow licensing agreement with GazoTech SAS, a Francebased energy developer, supporting the deployment of CHAR’s proprietary HighTemperature Pyrolysis (HTP) technology in France and select European markets.

Under the license agreement, CHAR licensed its HTP platform to GazoTech on a projectbyproject basis. GazoTech will source and supply HTP equipment under licence, while CHAR provides process design, technology transfer, and engineering support on a paid services basis. The collaboration aligns with CHAR’s recent progress at its Thorold Renewable Energy Facility and its broader scaleup strategy in North America, while leveraging GazoTech’s French project pipeline, including the BioMéthane Provence (BMP) initiative and an industrial integration opportunity to convert waste biomass into syngas and biocarbon for metallurgical applications.

“We were delighted to act for CHAR on this strategically important crossborder licensing transaction,” said Noam Goodman, lead partner on the transaction. “Bringing Canadian cleantech innovation into European markets is a meaningful step in advancing the energy transition, and this license agreement positions CHAR exceptionally well for that next stage of growth.”

The DLA Piper Canada team led by Noam Goodman was assisted by Frank Valentin, who leads the DLA Piper Intellectual Property practice in France.
