Elizabeth practices commercial, intellectual property and media law. She helps clients navigate a wide variety of transactional, regulatory and contentious matters, including sponsorship agreements, IP licensing, IP-rich M&A, copyright disputes, data rights, and media, consumer, and advertising issues. She works with clients across sectors including broadcast TV, gaming, publishing, digital media, music, sports, telecoms, hospitality, leisure and retail.

Elizabeth was seconded to Discovery Communications' UK Business and Legal Affairs team where she handled licensing, commissioning, talent and location agreements, and advised on content clearance. Before beginning her legal training, Elizabeth gained valuable industry experience as a TV Researcher, contributing to a range of BBC productions.

EXPERIENCE

  • IP and commercial strategic advice and due diligence for publishers looking to acquire or invest in video games, and drafting and negotiating related agreements, such as Services Agreements and Option Agreements.
  • Advising a major international theme park and tourist attractions client on licensing arrangements with studios (eg drafting licence agreements, advising on structure of contractual arrangements, contract/ risk summaries).
  • Advising various clients on Online Safety Act, Digital Services Act, Data Protection (in a media and/or image rights context), EU AI Act, consumer and advertising law (eg CCRs, CRA, DMCCA, CAP/ BCAP Code), sports and telecoms law compliance.
  • Assisting with the UK IP/commercial aspects of a music licensing platform's acquisition of a production music portfolio, and various acquisitions of/ investments into sports clubs and teams (football, motorsports, rugby).
  • Enforcement work (primarily copyright disputes) assisting rightsholders and collective rights management organisations to protect their IP rights.
  • Assisting telecoms clients seeking to enter new geographic markets with notification and licensing requirements.
