Laura advises on complex high value commercial litigation, arbitrations, and regulatory investigations, often with an international focus. She predominately acts for multinational corporations in resolving high value disputes and has a particular focus on the hospitality & leisure, real estate, and media, sports & entertainment sectors.

Laura has acted for clients in litigation proceedings before the High Court of England and Wales and the ADGM Courts, and arbitral proceedings in the LCIA, ICC, ADCCAC and the SIAC.

EXPERIENCE

  • Acting for one of the world's largest hotel and leisure groups in numerous actions including in:
    • two LCIA arbitrations (both London seats) regarding the interpretation and termination of franchise agreements in Germany and the performance of the franchisee;
    • an ICC arbitration (London seat) involving allegations of misrepresentation and alleged losses of over USD36m regarding the development of a hotel in Ethiopia;
    • advising on the withdrawal from the Russian market, including providing advice on the unilateral termination of its portfolio of 35 hotels and negotiating contested exits in respect of each of those hotels;
    • a challenge to an ICC arbitral award in the high court;
    • various disputes regarding the termination and operation of hotels across the EMEAA region.
  • Acting for the Premier League in the investigations of the transfer of academy players.
  • Acting for a global real estate investment and asset management firm in connection with an LCIA arbitration (London seat) brought against it regarding commission payments allegedly due pursuant to an introduction agreement and an investment in a development in the Netherlands.
  • Acting for a US-based real estate investment fund with a substantial global investment portfolio of alternative real estate assets, in various JV disputes.
