DLA Piper listed in Law.com’s Best Law Firms for UK Pro Bono top 10

DLA Piper has been named by Law.com in its top 10 listing of Best Law Firms for UK Pro Bono for 2021, following an intense contest featuring the majority of the largest firms.

The top 10 firms were selected based on six key metrics: the total number of pro bono hours worked in the UK in the last financial year; the number of pro bono hours per fee earner; the percentage of lawyers doing pro bono; the number of full- or part-time pro bono professionals; whether pro bono work counts towards lawyers’ utilisation targets and how the firms’ efforts were rated by their peers.

Key metrics from the listing include:

  • Number of UK pro bono hours worked: 29,962
  • Pro bono hours per UK fee earner: 37.8
  • Percentage of lawyers of doing pro bono: 74%

The firm was also recognised for the depth of its bench strength and its geographical spread of law clinics, which covers major cities including London, Edinburgh and Leeds, along with our determination to stay at the forefront of pro bono innovation.

Clare Donse, Head of Pro Bono at DLA Piper, commented: “It’s very encouraging to receive this recognition from both Law.com and our peers. Our pro bono practice reflects the strong commitment of our lawyers to responding to community needs across the country, to undertaking work that leads to systemic reform, restoring legal aid to areas of critical need and to supporting community legal education. The past decade has seen a rapid expansion of law firm pro bono in the UK, and we expect this will continue at a similar momentum. DLA Piper intends to stay at the forefront of this growth and to continue supporting the communities in which we have a presence.”
