Diego Peña named new partner of DLA Piper Chile

DLA Piper announced today that Diego Peña, who has served as a senior associate in the regulatory and energy and natural resources practices of DLA Piper Chile since 2015, has been named a partner of the firm.

Peña advises local and foreign clients in various matters related to energy and natural resources, infrastructure and public works concessions, including the development of renewable energy projects and other energy transitions matters. He has significant experience advising developers, operators and private investors, engineering and construction companies, banks and financial institutions, and insurance companies in the numerous stages and aspects involved in energy and infrastructure projects developed in Chile and Latin America.

“For us, it is a tremendous pride to have a person like Diego as a partner, because he combines the characteristics of a great lawyer and an excellent person," says Felipe Bahamondez, partner-in-charge of the regulatory and energy practice and co-managing partner of DLA Piper Chile.

“The incorporation of Diego as partner is great news for the firm in general, and for the Chilean office in particular, due to his personal and professional qualities, which are widely recognized in the market,” said Matías Zegers, co-managing partner of DLA Piper Chile. “Together with the incorporation last November of Amory Heine as partner, this is an additional sign of the growth and development that we have had and we are sure we will continue to have in Chile, thanks to the trust of our local and global clients.”

“It is very motivating and challenging to continue growing in a project with which I identify, with a first-class team, that is innovative and close to our clients, and with a culture of making our practice a space full of opportunities,” Peña said.

Peña studied law at the University of Chile and later obtained a master of laws degree at Northwestern University in Chicago. He also holds a certificate in business administration from IE Business School in Madrid, as well as a diploma in future electricity markets and their regulation from the School of Engineering of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
