DLA Piper partner Tamar Duvdevani named to the National Law Journal's 2022 list of Sports & Entertainment Law Trailblazers

DLA Piper is pleased to announce that Tamar Duvdevani, chair of the firm's Trademark, Copyright & Media practice and co-chair of the Consumer Goods and Retail subsector, has been named to the National Law Journal’s 2022 list of Sports & Entertainment Law Trailblazers.

The publication’s profile of Duvdevani highlighted her role in securing a precedential Ninth Circuit reversal and permanent injunction for Dr. Seuss Enterprises in the Dr. Seuss Enterprises v. ComicMix litigation, one of the most closely watched recent copyright fair use cases. The decision provides “an eloquent roadmap for federal courts faced with interpreting” fair use laws, Duvdevani told the National Law Journal. Duvdevani worked alongside a top-notch team of DLA Piper appellate lawyers, including Stan Panikowski, to secure the Ninth Circuit win. This year, she and her trademark litigation team continue to work on high-profile IP matters where fair use issues are at play, such as in the pending Nike, Inc. v. StockX LLC NFT litigation.

Duvdevani is an experienced intellectual property litigator and strategist who focuses her practice on disputes involving trademarks and trade dress, copyrights, right of publicity, and false advertising claims. She regularly provides guidance to some of the world’s largest retailers, media and consumer products companies on a variety of intellectual property and other legal issues important to their industries.
