DLA Piper’s Paul B. Lewis named to Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly’s 2023 list of Up & Coming Lawyers

DLA Piper is pleased to announce that Paul B. Lewis has received an Excellence in the Law award from Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly. On May 16, 2023, Lewis was named to this year’s Up & Coming Lawyers list, which honors standout attorneys for their legal accomplishments, thought leadership and community involvement.

An associate in the firm’s Boston office, Lewis is a litigator who focuses on complex civil and white-collar defense. Leveraging his significant trial and appellate experience, Lewis has secured dispositive defensive victories on behalf of clients in a number of different legal contexts, including commercial evictions, contract disputes, consumer-facing class actions, franchise disputes, wrongful death actions and extortionate business practice allegations.

Lewis also maintains an active pro bono practice, through which he has represented a family aggrieved by their former landlord’s conduct that rendered them homeless, as well as a putative class of foster children and their families in a lawsuit against the state of Ohio for a failure to provide them with federally required monetary aid.

Before joining DLA Piper, Lewis served as an assistant district attorney at the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office, where he prosecuted cases on the trial and appellate levels, including more than 20 jury trials and five cases at the Massachusetts Appeals Court. Prior to his tenure as a prosecutor, Lewis served as a term judicial law clerk at the US District Court for the District of Massachusetts.
