Aaron Applebaum represents debtors, official committees of unsecured creditors, creditors and chapter 11 and chapter 7 trustees in complex bankruptcy cases and out-of-court commercial restructurings. Aaron also has significant experience representing assignees in assignment for the benefit of creditor (ABC) proceedings in the Court of Chancery in Delaware. Aaron has been actively involved in numerous complex restructuring and acquisition matters, including in the oil and gas, retail, health care, medical services, restaurant, real estate and other industries.

Aaron focuses on protecting and advancing the interests of distressed companies and creditors in commercial workouts and chapter 11 reorganization cases. He assists clients with all aspects of chapter 11 proceedings, including sales of assets pursuant to section 363 of the Bankruptcy Code, confirmation of plans of reorganization, resolution of claims, and prosecution and defense of various adversary proceedings, including preference and fraudulent conveyance litigation.

  • Represented the chapter 11 trustee and four business debtors in In re Manus Edward Suddreth, et al., Case No. 13-12978-DER, in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Maryland.
  • Represented the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors in In re Maurice Sporting Goods, Inc. et al., Case No. 17-12481-KBO, in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.
  • Represented the debtors, Singapore-based offshore contractors and providers of integrated offshore solutions to the global oil and gas industry, in In re Ezra Holdings Limited et al., Case No. 17-22405-RDD, in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.

  • Represented the debtors, a grocery store cooperative serving approximately 800 supermarkets, specialty stores, convenience stores and superettes in In re AWI Delaware, Inc. et al., Case No. 14-12092 (Associated Wholesalers), in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.
  • Represented the purchaser of hospitals in New Jersey in bankruptcy cases in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey.
