  • Advised Grupo Cox (Cox), a leading Spanish multinational water and energy company, in its acquisition of Iberdrola’s power generation assets in Mexico for US$4.2 billion
  • Advised a major Latin American supermarket on its acquisition of a majority stake in an US supermarket company, a transaction valuing the company at $1.5 billion
  • Advised a leading regional cement and building materials company in connection with its agreement to acquire one of its competitors’ businesses in Latin America
  • Advised a leading telecommunications solutions provider in connection with a definitive agreement to acquire a telephone company and a telecommunications services provider
  • Assisted one of the major airline groups in Latin America in connection with its chapter 11 reorganization, restructuring and emergence
  • Assisted a large Infrastructure company, in connection with the sale of one of its businesses, a gas local distribution company
  • Assisted a private company in connection with an equity reorganization involving the current management of the company

Pro Bono

Manuel has been recognized for his outstanding pro-bono work and involvement. His work includes leading the incorporation of McKinsey Social Initiative Mexico’s entities, reviewing their legal day-to-day operations, drafting contracts and legal documentation; as well as, collaborating with the obtention before the Mexican Tax Authorities of their tax-exempt status to receive tax deductible donations.

Prior Experience

Before joining DLA Piper, Manuel worked as an associate at a major law firm located in Mexico City, where he was a member of the firm’s M&A Group.  Manuel additionally worked as an international attorney at a major firm in New York, where he assisted in complex M&A and private equity transactions as a member of the Corporate/M&A Group.
