Why I Lawyer: Q&A with Scott Wilson

Why did you decide to become a lawyer?

What drew me to the practice of law, and later to government service in the New York Attorney General’s Office, was the challenge of securing the right result through advocacy. Some problems just can’t be resolved without the involvement of the courts.

How do you develop a collaborative approach with your clients?

No two cases and no two clients are completely alike. The polestar for me is that outside counsel has to be adaptable and flexible.

What part of your practice do you consider to be the most innovative, and what areas are you most passionate about?

I love being in the trenches with a client who is facing a crisis on multiple fronts—in litigation, with government investigators, and in the media—and charting a path through all the uncertainty.
