DLA Piper advises Helaba on the financing of the acquisition of the Berlin office campus Focus Teleport by Asia Pacific Land

DLA Piper has advised Helaba on the senior financing of the acquisition of the office complex "Focus Teleport" in Berlin by Asia Pacific Land (APL). The senior financing with a total volume of approximately EUR 166 million has a term of seven years. The purchase of the office complex was represented by a complex combined share and asset deal. In addition, a mezzanine financing was provided, for which DLA Piper also advised Helaba on the intercreditor arrangement with the mezzanine lender.

The multi-tenant office complex was completed between 1989 and 1992 and is located in an attractive office location directly on the banks of the Spree River in the Berlin Moabit district. The campus consists of six office buildings with underground parking. The office complex is almost entirely leased to companies, most of which are active in the insurance, tech and IT sectors.

APL is a private company that invests in real estate, renewable energy and private equity transactions. Founded in 1994, the firm has completed over USD 21 billion in transactions to date and has offices in Munich, Berlin, throughout Asia and in the United States. Helaba is one of Germany's largest providers of financing solutions for commercial real estate. The bank focuses on office and retail properties, industrial parks and logistics centers in Germany, Europe and the US.

The DLA Piper team, led by partner Frank Schwem, also included counsel Eike Neugebauer and transaction lawyer Dr. Zsuzsanna.Somogyi-Csizmazia (all Frankfurt). In Luxembourg, partner Xavier Guzman and senior associate Tiziana Olivetti (all Finance, Projects & Restructuring) were also involved. Partner Florian Biesalski (Frankfurt, Real Estate) advised on the real state aspects of the transaction.
