Two DLA Piper lawyers listed in D Magazine's 2021 Best Lawyers Under 40 list

Crystal Woods, a partner in DLA Piper's Employment practice, and James C. Bookhout, an associate in the firm's Litigation and Regulatory practice, were recently named to D Magazine's 2021 Best Lawyers Under 40 list, which recognizes outstanding young lawyers in Dallas.

Woods has a diverse legal practice involving labor and employment and complex commercial litigation, with a primary focus on litigating disputes and counseling on matters implicating trade secrets, restrictive covenants and fiduciary duties. She has successfully represented clients in a range of disputes, including disputes involving enforcement of employment agreements and restrictive covenants; workplace discrimination, retaliation and harassment; wage-and-hour class and collective actions; and a variety of tort and complex contractual matters. She also regularly advises companies on employment aspects of significant business transactions.

Bookhout focuses on complex commercial disputes, particularly with respect to mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and private equity or investment fund issues. His extensive experience includes representation of both buyers and sellers in indemnification claims and fraud issues in M&A transactions, handling of working capital and post-closing adjustment disputes, and litigating fiduciary duty and other issues arising in private equity transactions and between investors and sponsors in investment funds. He also routinely handles litigation issues that arise for his clients’ portfolio companies. He has represented clients in numerous federal and states courts throughout the United States through all phases of trial.
