DLA Piper advises BASF Venture Capital on investment in Ag-tech start-up Equinom

DLA Piper has advised BASF Venture Capital, the venture capital arm of BASF SE, on its new investment in Israeli Ag-tech start-up Equinom. The investment was part of Equinom's Series C financing round.

Based in Ludwigshafen, Germany, BASF Venture Capital is the corporate venture capital arm of BASF SE with global investment activities, particularly in the Ag-tech sector.

Equinom is an Israeli Ag-tech start-up that uses the breakthrough of genomic sequencing to develop new technologies in the field of seed and legume advancement. The company has established itself as the world's largest supplier of high-yielding and robust sesame seeds. At the same time, Equinom is working on growing high-quality, high-protein plant varieties as sustainable, reliable and healthy alternative sources of protein.

BASF Venture Capital was advised by partner Dr Benjamin Parameswaran and counsel Dr Philipp Clemens (both Corporate, Hamburg). Inhouse legal support for the investment was provided by senior counsel Andrea Schreiber.
