James Berger and Charlene Sun join DLA Piper’s International Arbitration practice in New York

DLA Piper announced today that James Berger and Charlene Sun have joined the firm’s International Arbitration practice as partners in New York.

Berger and Sun focus their practices on the enforcement of arbitral awards and foreign judgments in the United States and globally. They also handle international disputes, particularly cross-border and multi-jurisdictional proceedings, and represent clients in a broad range of international and domestic commercial conflicts in both arbitration and litigation.

“James and Charlene bring extensive and wide-ranging international arbitration capabilities that will be a key addition to our growing practice,” said Kate Brown de Vejar, global co-chair of DLA Piper’s International Arbitration practice. “Their particular experience representing energy companies, mining companies, private equity funds, investment banks and other clients in award enforcement matters will allow us to offer a full range of arbitration-related services to our clients and solidify our position as a leading firm in this area,” added Michael Ostrove, global co-chair of the International Arbitration practice.

Berger and Sun join from King & Spalding. Berger received his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law and his B.A. from George Washington University. He was the editor and a contributing author of International Aspects of US Litigation, a significant international litigation treatise published in 2017. Sun received her J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania School of Law and her B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin.
