DLA Piper advises Russia’s on-demand service marketplace YouDo on USD5m investment from HeadHunter

DLA Piper has advised YouDo, a Russian online marketplace offering on-demand freelance services, on the USD5 million investment round from HeadHunter, a Russian online recruitment platform.

The investment is in line with HeadHunter’s strategy to further expand beyond the core recruitment market and enter promising adjacent segments within the entire HR value chain. It will enable HeadHunter to access rapidly developing gig economy market and provide resources to accelerate YouDo’s expansion in the business-to-business segment.

Founded in 2012, YouDo is one of the largest Russian horizontal online service marketplaces matching freelance labour demand and supply in customer-to-customer and business-to-business segments. The service has nearly 9 million verified users and operates in all regions of Russia.

DLA Piper provided full legal support for the transaction. The Moscow-based Corporate team was led by partner and global co-chair of Emerging Growth and Venture Capital Leo Batalov, assisted by senior associates Georgy Vinogradov and Azalia Mukminova.
