  • Acting for the daughter of a Hong Kong-based billionaire in successfully resisting an application for an order to appoint a Committee under the Mental Health Court to manage the affairs of the client’s mother. Continues to represent and assist the client in a number of legal disputes, including probate proceedings and proceedings in the Superior Court of California.
  • Acting for a global commercial real estate and investment firm that is ranked on the Fortune 2019 list of the 500 US-based public companies in a multi-jurisdictional shareholder dispute with PRC counterparts in relation to an investment in a property in Shanghai. Leading the multi-jurisdiction dispute, including legal proceedings in the BVI, arbitration in Hong Kong and a successful application for an asset preservation order in the PRC.
  • Acting for an Australian mining contractor in two Hong Kong High Court actions against a Hong Kong listed company to enforce a parent company guarantee over a mining project in Mongolia with claims over USD25.7 million.
  • Acting for an international specialist subcontractor in a project in Djibouti, Africa, for the construction of military defence force base in its dispute with the main contractor. The dispute relates to the calculation of the Final Account for the project and covers a broad area of construction law, including the valuation of the variations, damages for delay and contra charges by the main contractor as well as economic duress. The amount in dispute was over USD9.4 million.
  • Advising an international fashion retailer in its potential disputes with its fitting-out main contractor and subcontractor for fitting-out works of its first flagship store in Hong Kong. Apart from providing legal advice on the potential claim against the client's contractors and also the liability that it may face from claims made by the landlord and other tenants of the building, the team also provided valuable advice on strategy to the client.
