Ross Wilson is a Scots law qualified solicitor and an Associate of our Litigation, Arbitration & Regulatory group advising on the full range of contentious matters, with extensive experience in arbitration and offshore litigation.

He advises clients across the Middle East (including multi-national corporations, state-entities and high net worth individuals) with a particular focus on complex commercial disputes. Ross has represented clients in abritral forums such as the DIAC and ICC, as well as before the courts of the DIFC and ADGM.

EXPERIENCE

  • Acting for a Saudi-Arabian based manufacturer of oil and gas products in a DIAC arbitration regarding the supply of defective raw material.
  • Acting for a leading aviation services business in a DIAC seated arbitration in respect of a USD96m dispute arising under a concession in Iraq. The dispute also involves advising in respect of 2 concurrent claims brought before the local Iraqi courts.
  • Acting for a global engineering business in enforcing an ICC award against an Iraqi state entity, involving issues such as criminal sanctions and cross-border consequences.
  • Acting for a UAE based funds manager in ADGM Court proceedings concerning allegations of fraud, embezzlement and breach of fiduciary duties.
  • Advising a global hospitality chain on the termination and removal of a non-performing concessionaire.
  • Acting to protect shareholder executives from oppressive conduct and the unlawful imposition of bad leaver clauses.
  • Acting in employment claims before the ADGM, securing a favourable judgment departing from the fixed-costs regime.
  • Advising telecommunications providers on termination of contract in the United Arab Emirates

Prior Experience

Ross trained with DLA Piper in Edinburgh, and has completed secondments to DLA Piper’s office in Dublin. Prior to joining DLA Piper, Ross tutored in private law at a leading Scottish university.
