Welcome to our first Sustainability Moot in the Middle East

We’re running a competition designed exclusively for law schools across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The initiative is the first of its kind in the Middle East, and comes at a pivotal moment as we gear up for COP28, where international leaders will make critical decisions about the future of our planet.

What is the DLA Piper Sustainability Moot?

The Sustainability Moot is a competition that challenges the brightest legal minds to address complex issues related to sustainability and ESG. Participants will engage in a series of virtual rounds, delving into legal problems at the forefront of international sustainability discussions. The competition will be a transformative experience for students from around the world.

Benefits for participants

• Connect with our lawyers: You’ll meet our lawyers, who’ll mentor and guide you through the competition, and give you insights into the practice of law.

• Tackle global legal challenges: The moot is an opportunity to grapple with and debate complex legal issues of global significance. By participating, you’ll contribute to the global conversation on sustainability and environmental justice.

• Final round in the UAE, and work experience at DLA Piper: The four moot finalists will travel to the UAE for the final round, and will be offered work experience in one of our 90+ offices globally. This allows them to continue to build their network, see first-hand practice of law, and develop their professional skillset.

DLA Piper Sustainability Moot final competition in Abu Dhabi's ADGM Courts

We are delighted to have hosted over 75 student attendees at the first Sustainability Moot Masterclass across the 4th and 5th of October.

The masterclass was held for participants of the Inaugural DLA Piper Sustainability Moot, and was an interactive session in which colleagues from DLA Piper presented to students a number of tips, tricks, and pieces of advice to eager competitors, who also shared some of their own personal experiences.

The calibre of students, and their level of enthusiasm, was high, and promises for a closely contested competition.
