DLA Piper honored by Read Ahead at virtual gala

DLA Piper is pleased to announce that it was recognized by Read Ahead, a nonprofit that partners volunteer mentors with elementary school students throughout New York City for one-on-one lunchtime reading-based mentoring sessions, as the corporate honoree at the organization’s virtual gala, Books and Beyond.

DLA Piper was recognized for its continued support of Read Ahead, with which it has worked since 2010. More than 80 of the firm’s lawyers and staff have volunteered to serve as mentors to students in the program, including partner Christopher Paci, who also serves on Read Ahead’s board of directors.

“Our commitment to creating a culture that is inclusive of all people, and where everyone has an opportunity to succeed, is fundamental to who we are,” said Fenimore Fisher, DLA Piper’s chief diversity and inclusion officer, while accepting the recognition on September 16, 2020. “We support Read Ahead’s mission that every child deserves the opportunity to be successful in school and in life.”

DLA Piper's acceptance of the award, including remarks from several firm mentors, is available to watch here.
