DLA Piper advises founders on sale of FleetMon to MarineTraffic

DLA Piper advised the two founders of FleetMon on the sale of the company to Greek competitor MarineTraffic. Subsequently, MarineTraffic and FleetMon were acquired by Brussels-headquartered data and analytics company Kpler, which through the coordinated double acquisition aims to broaden its footprint in the field of global ship-tracking data and maritime analytics and further advance the digitalization for maritime transport.

FleetMon was founded in 2007 in Rostock, Germany, and provides public vessel data to market-leading corporates, shipping companies and captains. MarineTraffic, also founded in 2007 and based in Athens, is a leading provider of ship tracking and maritime intelligence.

The DLA Piper team was led by counsel Dr Isaschar Nicolaysen and partner Dr Benjamin Parameswaran with senior associate Jan Schürmann (all Corporate/M&A, Hamburg) in the core team.
