About

Carl Renner is Co-Regional Head (Mainland Europe) of Law&, the innovative NewLaw unit of DLA Piper. He has many years of experience as a lawyer and specialises in the development and delivery of innovative and disruptive legal services.

After working as an IT and data protection lawyer at DLA Piper from 2010 to the end of 2014, his practice focus shifted to NewLaw services and managed legal services, in particular the efficient support of high-volume, repetitive and standardisable tasks in combination with state-of-the-art technologies/AI, efficient processes and legal project management.

Before rejoining DLA Piper, he gained experience as a lawyer in various secondments of several months in international companies, built up his own law firm specialising in NewLaw and an alternative legal service provider in Germany and was a partner of an international law firm, where he built up and was responsible for the practice group specialising in innovative legal services in Germany for several years as co-head.

EXPERIENCE

  • Establishment and lead of a legal desk for a company in the insurance industry to provide ongoing support in the review and revision of standard contracts (e.g. NDAs).
  • Ongoing support in peak seasons for a leading software manufacturer in the processing and negotiation of standardised licence agreements.
  • Management of a hybrid data protection project involving NewLaw resources, corporate and data protection experts and legal tech.
  • Developing a legal tech-based standardised review system for Code of Conducts for an international industrial company.
