DLA Piper appoints acclaimed real estate partner

Global law firm DLA Piper has today confirmed the appointment of Sallie Bowtell as a Melbourne-based partner in our real estate practice. 

Sallie is joining from Moray & Agnew, where she specialises in major property projects, acting for institutional developers, foreign investors and developers, and listed and unlisted property trusts.

“We are delighted to have someone of Sallie’s calibre join our real estate practice. She will be a great asset to our Australian and international clients,” said Amber Matthews, Australian Managing Partner, DLA Piper. 

Sallie joined DLA Piper on 24 January 2022. She brings extensive global experience, having spent a decade in Dubai and Bahrain, where she conducted complex regional work throughout the Gulf, Middle East and North Africa. 

“I’m delighted to be joining DLA Piper which has such an impressive client offering and conducts complex multi-jurisdictional work. The Australian property sector is particularly buoyant at present, with a great deal of opportunity ahead,” said Sallie.  

DLA Piper’s Head of Real Estate in Australia, Les Koltai, said he was pleased to have Sallie joining the team.

“It’s rare to find someone of Sallie’s skillset and reputation. She will be an outstanding addition to our practice,” Les added. 

Sallie holds a Masters of Business Administration (Finance) from the University of Liverpool, and a Bachelor of Laws/Bachelor of Commerce (Finance & International Business) from Deakin University. She was admitted as a Barrister & Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Victoria in 2004.
