Joy has over 26 years’ experience as a lawyer including over 17 years in commercial property, and eight years as Legal Counsel at Fire and Emergency New Zealand / New Zealand Fire Service.

Joy has advised both private and public sector clients on a wide range of property matters.

Joy spent eight years at Fire and Emergency New Zealand / New Zealand Fire Service as legal counsel, advising on a range of matters from commercial, procurement and contracting, property, resource management, privacy, risk and operational functions and powers.

Joy has extensive experience in rural and forestry property transactions.

She also advises on a wide range of property issues and transactions, including subdivisions; property development projects; leasing and licensing; vendor and purchaser due diligence; negotiation of contracts and property acquisitions and disposals, Public Works Act 1981 and Reserves Act 1977. She has also extensive experience in advising on issues under the Local Government Act 1974 and 2002 and Crown Entities Act.
