Shamim advises in relation to complex cross-border infrastructure, energy and project finance transactions in Europe and the Middle East, many which are large scale, ‘first of its kind’ transactions. She has acted for sponsors, commercial lenders, and export credit agencies. Her experience includes projects in renewable energy, social infrastructure, transport and telecoms. Prior to joining DLA, Shamim worked at two leading international law firms and was also a professional support lawyer.

Shamim’s recent experience includes advising:

  • The lenders in connection with a USD430m refinancing for Genser Energy Ghana Limited.
  • The sponsors on all aspects of the landmark USD8.4bn NEOM Green Hydrogen Project. The project will be powered by 4GW of solar and wind energy and is expected to produce up to 600 tonnes per day of carbon-free hydrogen as the world's first utility scale green hydrogen facility and the largest greenfield renewables project in history.*
  • The borrower on a SAR1.28bn project financing for the development and upgrade of the South Container Terminal at Jeddah Islamic Port located in Saudi Arabia.*
  • The borrower on the financing of Phase One of The Red Sea Project.*
  • The borrower, the owner and operator of the Noor Abu Dhabi solar PV plant, in connection with the refinancing in full of the Noor Abu Dhabi project through the issuance of USD700.8m 3.625% green senior secured green bonds.*
  • The procurer in connection with the 1.5 GW Sudair solar project, the largest single-site solar project in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.*
  • The lenders in relation to the financing of Al Dhafra Solar PV2 project, the largest single site solar plant in the world.*
  • The borrower in connection with its acquisition of a telecom tower portfolio from Telecom Srbija.*
  • The borrower in connection with a refinancing of their portfolio of anaerobic digestion facilities.*
  • The lenders on a financing to Boldyn Networks support the rollout of 4G/5G and Wi-Fi infrastructure across London underground stations and tunnels in line with an exclusive 20-year concession between Boldyn and Transport for London.*
  • The sponsor in connection with bridge financing of the Douro Litoral Toll Road in Portugal.*
