He works with fund managers, trustees, corporates and financial service providers on establishment, structuring, and ongoing compliance, helping clients navigate New Zealand’s evolving regulatory landscape in a pragmatic and commercially focused way. His experience spans regulatory engagement, managed fund governance, capital raising, and domestic and cross-border transactions.

EXPERIENCE

  • Advised financial service providers on regulatory engagement with New Zealand regulators, including successful applications for regulatory relief and exemptions.
  • Assisted fund managers and trustees with the establishment and governance of managed investment schemes, including regulatory compliance, service provider arrangements, and breach responses.
  • Advised KiwiSaver schemes and large publicsector superannuation schemes on establishment, ongoing compliance, operational issues, and scheme windups.
  • Supported crossborder offers of financial products under the mutual recognition regime between New Zealand and Australia.
  • Provided technical advice on the establishment and operation of Qualifying Recognised Overseas Pension Schemes (QROPS) to facilitate UK pension transfers.
  • Acted on mergers and acquisitions, including due diligence, transaction documentation, transitional arrangements and postcompletion matters.
