Boston advises domestic and international clients on corporate and financial services matters, with a particular focus on investment funds, superannuation and KiwiSaver, and regulated financial product offerings.

He works with fund managers, trustees, corporates and financial service providers on establishment, structuring, and ongoing compliance, helping clients navigate New Zealand’s evolving regulatory landscape in a pragmatic and commercially focused way. His experience spans regulatory engagement, managed fund governance, capital raising, and domestic and cross-border transactions.

Boston is a member of DLA Piper’s top ranked Investment Funds practice and is an active contributor to the firm’s pro bono initiatives.

EXPERIENCE

  • Advised financial service providers on regulatory engagement with New Zealand regulators, including successful applications for regulatory relief and exemptions.
  • Assisted fund managers and trustees with the establishment and governance of managed investment schemes, including regulatory compliance, service provider arrangements, and breach responses.
  • Advised KiwiSaver schemes and large public‑sector superannuation schemes on establishment, ongoing compliance, operational issues, and scheme wind‑ups.
  • Supported cross‑border offers of financial products under the mutual recognition regime between New Zealand and Australia.
  • Provided technical advice on the establishment and operation of Qualifying Recognised Overseas Pension Schemes (QROPS) to facilitate UK pension transfers.
  • Acted on mergers and acquisitions, including due diligence, transaction documentation, transitional arrangements and post‑completion matters.
