Ariel Diamond West advises telecommunications and technology companies on a broad range of regulatory, compliance, and transactional matters. She represents clients before the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), state public utility commissions, and international regulatory authorities, with particular focus on mergers and acquisitions, market entry strategies, and enforcement proceedings. Ariel has guided clients through numerous high-profile transactions, playing a central role in securing regulatory approvals from the FCC, Team Telecom, the California Public Utilities Commission, and multiple other state commissions. As a member of the firm’s global practice, she has extensive experience assisting clients with international expansion efforts, including market entry and infrastructure deployment.
Ariel has developed particular expertise in public safety, network resiliency, and disaster response matters. She served on the FCC’s Broadband Deployment Advisory Committee Disaster Response and Recovery Working Group and frequently advises clients on compliance with emergency alert and 911 regulations. Most recently, she represented a national wireless provider in a regulatory investigation arising from a major California wildfire.
Before joining DLA Piper, Ariel served as an Attorney Advisor in the FCC’s Wireless Telecommunications Bureau through the Attorney Honors Program. She earned her J.D. from the University of Colorado Law School, where she was Editor-in-Chief of the Colorado Technology Law Journal.
In addition to her practice, Ariel is Co-Chair of the FCBA’s Pacific Northwest Chapter and Senior Fellow for the Silicon Flatirons Center at the University of Colorado Law School.
Ariel has been recognized by The Legal 500 US as a “Leading Associate” in Telecoms and Broadcast for her work on regulatory matters.
