Andrew Dyson

Andrew's practice focusses on data privacy and cyber security matters. He brings over 25 years' experience helping clients govern the legal and ethical risks arising from the collection and processing of data, deployment of new technologies and management of cyber incidents. Andrew’s clients operate across sectors and geographies, with a focus on financial services, healthcare, tech and consumers.

Andrew advises on the adoption of effective governance strategies to manage compliance risk, including conformance to the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). He routinely leads multi-jurisdictional programs where he brings a practical, risk-based approach, supported by tools designed to streamline project delivery.

Andrew was Co-Chair of DLA Piper's Global Data Protection, Privacy and Cybersecurity group for nearly a decade before promotion to his role as Country Managing Partner. He remains a Visiting Research Fellow in Applied Ethics at the University of Leeds, Editorial Board Member of the Journal of Data Protection & Privacy, and active participant in a number of working groups developing UK regulatory policy for data protection and AI. He is recognised in peer rankings as a leading lawyer, including Chambers (Eminent Practitioner – Data Protection and Cybersecurity), Lawdragon (Leading Global Cyber Lawyers) and The Lawyer (Hot 100 2026).
