DLA Piper appoints Financial Services specialist as partner in Edinburgh Litigation & Regulatory practice

DLA Piper announces the appointment of Stuart Murdoch as partner in its Edinburgh Litigation & Regulatory practice, specialising in financial services disputes and regulatory matters. He joins from local Scottish firm Burness Paull, where he was also a partner, and before that in-house at RBS, where he was Legal Counsel in the litigation & investigations team. He is one of only eight lawyers in the Scottish market recommended for Banking litigation.

Stuart joins partner Alistair Drummond in the Edinburgh Litigation & Regulatory team and will add both to the local offering and will also complement the existing UK and International Financial Services specialism that exists within the global practice. The Group has financial services lawyers across key European jurisdictions, including UK, Netherlands, Austria, Spain, Belgium, Italy and Ireland, along with a growing practice in Asia and Australia, with Stuart being a valued addition to this growing global offering.

Commenting on the appointment, International Head of DLA Piper’s Litigation and Regulatory Practice, Jean-Pierre Douglas-Henry said:

“Stuart is one of the few pure financial services regulatory, compliance and disputes lawyers in the Scottish market and as such will make a significant contribution to our Litigation & Regulatory team in Edinburgh and also across the firm in an area where we continue to build a particular specialism.”
