DLA Piper adds Michelle Morgan, former Chief of Corruption & Civil Rights Section of the US Attorney’s Office, as partner in the firm’s Litigation practice
DLA Piper continues the expansion of its Litigation practice with the addition of Michelle Morgan – former Assistant United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and Chief of the Corruption & Civil Rights Section – as a partner in the firm’s Wilmington office.
With more than 25 years of experience as a litigator, Morgan has practiced in multiple jurisdictions handling both criminal and civil matters in public and private practice.
During her 17 years as an Assistant United States Attorney, Morgan focused her practice on prosecuting public corruption, human trafficking and child exploitation offenses, in addition to healthcare fraud, economic crime and matters related to the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. She handled all types of complex white collar and violent criminal cases from investigation through appeal, including spearheading sex trafficking prosecution efforts, managing dozens of federal prosecutors, and supervising complex, high-profile, federal, state and local public corruption and civil rights investigations and prosecutions.
Morgan regularly led complex investigations in coordination with law enforcement officers from the Federal Bureau of Investigation; the Department of Homeland Security; the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; and the Drug Enforcement Administration, among many others. As a Fellow of the esteemed American College of Trial Lawyers, Morgan has significant trial experience.
