DLA Piper expands Government Contracts practice with the addition of Travis Mullaney
DLA Piper has added Travis Mullaney as a Partner in the firm’s Government Contracts practice, further expanding its capabilities in corporate, private equity, and venture capital transactions involving companies with significant government contract portfolios. He is based in the Washington, DC office.
Mullaney focuses his practice on M&A due diligence for transactions involving government contractors, drawing on deep experience across the full procurement lifecycle. His background includes bid protests, subcontract negotiations, and claims and disputes litigation. He advises clients on compliance issues that government contractors regularly face, including domestic preference issues, governmental rights in intellectual property, small business matters, cybersecurity, conflicts of interest, labor requirements, and suspension and debarment risks, among others.
In addition, Mullaney’s practice involves national security matters, including Foreign Ownership, Control, and Influence (FOCI) reviews, security clearances, and access to classified and controlled unclassified information. Mullaney also counsels clients on cybersecurity and information‑control obligations, contractor risk and liability, and developments related to the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) framework.
“Travis adds meaningful depth to our government contracts offering at a time when clients are navigating increasingly complex transactions,” said Dawn Stern, Global Co‑Chair of DLA Piper’s Government Contracting sector. “His ability to connect procurement, compliance, national security, and transactional considerations will be invaluable to clients evaluating risk, pursuing growth, and protecting critical government relationships.”
